WE’VE GOT A LOTTA BABY...
So we have just been for our bi-monthly ultra sound scan.
Baby one weighs anything from 2,5 – 2,7 kg and baby 2 weighs between 1,8 – 2 kg!
That’s a lot of baby!! The doctor said that these weights are considered big for twins. She also said that everything looks normal and that there is enough embryonic fluid for them to keep growing.
So bring on those Big Babies!
Our lives are on standby from now on. We don’t move too far from the hospital where Randi will give birth (it is just down the road and around the corner). In fact, Randi doesn’t move very much at all (see last post).
So while we’re waiting for the big day, here are a few more photos of our travels through the world since we have been together. Enjoy them and send us some positive energy for our big day.

Visitors (10 July)
We had a lovely visit yesterday with our friends who are a Danish/South African couple I met in my last block of flats.
They are expecting in September, but only one baby and I find it interesting to see the difference in the size between the two Moms. (The two Dads are pretty close in size, I would say…)

We were trying to get our heads around the fact that in a few short months when we meet again to do a before/after photo session there would no longer be 4 people in the apartment but 7! YIKES!!!

The Final Count Down
As we move into the final stage of our experience with pregnancy and the end is so near, the realisation of just how tough a twin pregnancy is really hits home.
Randi has gained about 17-18 kg since conception! That's like strapping 18 Lr of milk around your waist and then getting on with life! I wanna see you do that.
On the good days when Randi has had a relatively good nights sleep (which means she has been able to sleep for 4-5 whole, uninterrupted hours) then she's fresh and perky in the mornings, and even for a while after her midday 'Siesta', but the afternoons are very tough and as the day slips away so does her energy. Gravity takes hold of our two unborn children and drags them down towards Earth, as if willing them to 'drop out'.
Randi feels more and more uncomfortable until it starts becoming painfully uncomfortable and by the time it is evening she doesn't know what to do with herself (or our unborn children).
But then, after a back-rub and a sleep, she's up and fresh the next morning again.
On other days she only gets to sleep for one or two hours before being woken by the stomach or toilet or something else – then the whole next day is spent 'recovering' the lost strength by resting/sleeping and trying not to notice how heavy her body feels.
I think what keeps her going is the whole reason – our unborn children. This is the beginning of that everlasting and deep seated feeling that one would do anything for ones children.
We are so close to the end that we can almost feel it! The two mini-cots are ready. The changing table is ready. The cloths are all folded and ready. We're all set and yet each day that we have to wait is a blessing because for each day that goes by the twins grow bigger and stronger and will be better equipped to survive in this world.
