Calf Island Marine Day
We were lucky enough to be at the summer house at the same time as the Kalv Ø (Calf Island) had their annual celebrations.
These are mostly photos of other things than us, but I had a lot of fun and I think some of these photos are rather good (all rights reserved!). But seriously, they do give a good feeling of just how beautiful the place is.
After breakfast on the day (of course I had been up before dawn to get the good photos) we got ready and walked over to the island. The kids got boats made for them and sailed them to the tones of a men’s choir, we had a ride in a horse drawn buggy, we saw a man make a rope (and I just had to buy it!) and had a great time in the hot sun.
The rest of the family went back to the house and can be seen on one of the pictures in the distance watching me sail by on the good ship “Haabet” (Hope), one of the two ‘Tall Ships’ which sailed the bay that day.

Summer 2k11 - Summer House nr.2
So Here are a few more photos of our holidays at the summer house near KalvØ.
These photos are taken with our new camera as the old camera has started to give slightly out of focus photos (have you noticed?).

Summer 2k11 - Summer House
The second part of our summer holiday was spent at a summer house on the Danish side of the boarder. This type of house is simply furnished and usually near the sea or forest or something.
You can see on the photos that we are right in front of the sea which is actually a very secluded bay so the water was calm all the time and more like a lake than the ocean.
We did quite a lot of walking and the two big kids did very well walking all over the place and not complaining too much… We often took a walk over to the island which was the view from the house (about a 15 – 20 min. walk). We picked apples and berries from hedges on the way, looked at grazing cows, paddled in the cold water, spent lots of time outdoors and had lots of fun.

Summer 2k11 - Flensburg
So these are the best photos of our two weeks in Flensburg this summer.
Thanks very, very much to Claudia and Stephen for opening their home to us (again!) in such a hospitable way!!
This has been one of the wettest summers for a long time and we sure did get our fair share of rain and cool, over cast weather, but there were also sunny days and we took advantage of those.
We got to see a lot of Oma Flori. and the kids loved her to read stories and play with her. They even spent their FIRST NIGHT OUT with her one night. Oma said that everything went very well and that they were fine! Wow what big children.
The beach was not a great hit yet for Theodore, but Hamilton and Victoria are old enough to enjoy it more. We were also in the early days of potty training so it was a bit cumbersome all in all. Perhaps next summer will be better.
Some of the last photos are of a visit we made (in the pouring rain) to an indoor play park with the kids. They absolutely loved it! They ran around like crazy the whole morning, finding their way through the maze like complex and sliding etc. etc. Not to mention they were completely knocked out when we got home.

Theodore Nelson Probst Linde
”I now baptise you with the name Theodore Nelson Probst Linde.” were the words spoken by Pastor Viggo in Flensburg and with a few drops of water it was all over.
Theodore was very observant and partook actively in the ceremony, even answering for himself ones or twice. Not crying, but a quiet “Yes” every now and again.
The church (which is the Danish Church – just in Flensburg) was the original village/city church, so it is very old and pretty.
We had lunch afterwards in the same restaurant as with the twins. It is nestled in a local wood and thus in a beautiful setting.
We were extremely lucky with the weather as coffee and ice-cream cake was served outside (!) but the sun shined and it was lovely.
Thanks to all the guests for all the wonderful gifts and for coming from far and near to celebrate Theodore.
(Thanks to the two photographers for doing a great job! And to Maren S. for letting us use some of her photos too.)

3 Years Old!
Victoria and Hamilton were in the centre the whole day on their Birthday.
Mom had baked white bread with chocolate (!) on top in the morning, which we enjoyed very much.
Then Oma (Granny) babysat Theodore while the rest of us went to an indoor pool, then lunch and in the afternoon a whole lot of friends came over for pizza and ice-cream.
Happy 3rd Birthday Victoria and Hamilton!!
