Summer Beach Holiday - 2012

Warm Greetings to Family and Friends We have just returned from our ”Summer Beach Holiday – 2012”. Randi had arranged the hire of a summer cottage on the North East coast of Denmark, at East Hurup. The cottage was inspired by the African round house or “Rondavel” with straw roof and all. There was a toilet/shower built on as an extra though. The cottage was only a few meters away from the beach and by the end of our 10 day stay, all the children (incl. Theodore!!) were happy to walk back from the beach alone. We did have to follow Theodore when he shot off by himself. We had a lot of rain in the first few days and the small house got a bit cramped, but then the sun would come out and we could play outside for a bit. You will see in the photos below (remember to click on them to make them larger) that we often had fleece jackets and Theodore has a knitted cap most of the time and that is because it only got really HOT (like summer) on our last day there… We enjoyed the beach when we could and enjoyed exploring the sand when the tide was out and because of the flat nature of the coast, at low tide the sea would recede about 150 – 200 meters leaving the little fishing boats high and dry. We managed to build a very big and quite pretty sand castle with draw-bridge, balcony, shell art and all! The coast was an excellent place to catch some pretty stones and the fishing nets were put to good use for that. We got home browner and saltier than we had left and everyone was so tired of have fun that a good nap was in order.
Happy Holidays
